For several years now I have wanted to see something different in our Wallaby centre combinations. I had grown tired of the imbalance in…
He does deserve it that’s for sure.
'Opportunities everywhere': McReight's warning for RA to get serious as Wallabies gun targets big Super season
Very worried about Ikitau leaving. Would be a huge loss.

So nothing to do with his development and time at Gordon and Easts?
And what of my previous question?
And what if my example of Norths nearly beating Easts in the GF? If SS is so far off the pace, how did they come so close to beating a Waratahs stacked team?
Waratahs Pressure Points: Slate wiped clean after years of rot, but for McKellar’s men it’s a long way to the top
I almost commented on why Leo Jacques was left off the centres list. Now I know why. I’ve only seen him play NSW under 16s and was impressed. But haven’t seen him since. Tahs just signed him to their Academy. Poynton was great too but haven’t seen him recently either.
Thanks for a great series Chips!!
Prospecting for gold: The outside backs set to take the Wallabies beyond the golden decade
Are you limiting your argument to players that come in cold as injury cover having not been part of the Waratahs environment?
Julian Heaven is a good example of someone who I would say was very successful even though he was brought in from SS as injury cover. Don’t you think? The fact he got injured didn’t mean he wasn’t up to SR standard did it?

Thanks mate I’ll have a watch of the GF.
Prospecting for gold: No.9s and playmakers - who stand out in Australia's next generation of halves
Which players though? Only the ones that don’t succeed? That would be ignoring all the ones that do succeed?
In the SS final this year Easts was stacked with Waratahs whereas Norths had only a couple of SR players, and if the Norths guys didn’t drop the ball over the line, Norths would have beaten them.
So the idea that the step is too far or that they won’t succeed without an NRC is simply too narrow an argument for me.

Thanks for the great info! Keen to see what he can do. Might have to watch some more of his club games.

He’s awesome either way!
I like what he’s shown at 15 but do you think he can be a 10? I hope so.
He didn’t have the beat under 20 World Cup but he looked so sharp for Rebels. Carter went from talent but error prone to really strong and good defender pretty quickly. Hoping Mason can do the same.

I thought the criteria was under 21. Both are 21. Regardless, he’s excellent!

One extra guy just outside the age limit is Mason Gordon, who looked amazing in glimpses for the Rebels.
Lots of options at 10 for the Reds but he could become one of their best!

Just find myself agreeing with so much of what youve written.
Walsh definitely a big loss. His older brother looks to be playing well overseas at the moment.
Hopefully all our young 9s and 10s are working hard on their kicking games. So important.

Which evidence are you referring to? That they got injured? Any SR club that had that many front row injuries would’ve struggled.
That doesn’t mean the gap is too big for all players, especially if you consider how many players succeed that come from SS.
For me there’s a lot of other factors that determine if they succeed, like selection, tactics, timing, experience in their position etc.

Yeah he looked like a super rugby player playing schoolboys. Lots of good players in that game too.

Sure but he’s the guru that can set them up to be the beat scrummagers!

Another great read thanks!
I felt the same way watching Hooper the first time in the Barker v Nudgee game!
Really big fan of Bryant too.
And both Brials looking good.

Is the step up from Shute Shield to Super Rugby Pacific too big for all the Shute Shield players that exist across all the Australian Super rugby teams??
And how exactly did the Waratahs win Super Rugby title with predominantly Shute Shield players and with no NRC in place?!

How did you think those Reds players you mentioned performed in the Australia XV game?
If Joe Schmidt does depart, leave Les Kiss where he is ... for everyone's sake
Just said the same re. Cron!

Thanks Chips, a great read! Exciting times.
We should be making sure Mike Cron is working with all these players and imparting as much of his knowledge on them while we have him.

Yep it helps. You like big blokes with bad technique.
Half the Wallabies starting XV that almost beat Ireland are off contract in 2025 - here's the five RA can't lose
Here’s a hint – there are plenty of big players that are bad defenders

Thanks for the intellect.

I have that feeling too. Hopefully it’s a good arrangement where he can still play for Wallabies
