Harry Sharp – Was traded to Melbourne along with the Lions’ 2025 third-round pick in exchange for the Demons’ pick 49 and 2025 third-round pick tied to Essendon.

Carlton Blues

Jack Carroll – Has been linked to a return home to Western Australia. Played 15 games for the Blues in 2024.

Matthew OwiesWas traded to West Coast as part of a three-club trade involving Richmond as well.

Marc Pittonet – Despite having three further years to run on his Blues contract, clubs have reportedly shown interest in the ruckman, with Tom De Koning rapidly overtaking him in the pecking order at Carlton.

Lewis Young – Has a contract for 2025, but was reportedly been told by the Blues to look for a new home, though no deal was forthcoming.

Collingwood Magpies

Finlay Macrae – Having struggled to break into the Pies’ best team since his debut in 2021, is seen as a player of interest for rival clubs, though has one year to run on his contract. No deal was made.

Reef McInnes – Reportedly the subject of inquiries having, similarly to Macrae, struggled to hold down a best 22 spot. Is out of contract at season’s end.

Joe RichardsWas traded to Port Adelaide as part of a mega-trade involving the Magpies, Power and Gold Coast.

Essendon Bombers

Ben Hobbs – Contracted for next year, but has fallen down the pecking order in the Bombers’ midfield and has attracted attention from elsewhere, including Collingwood. Wasn’t traded.

Jayden Laverde – Was linked to St Kilda, with the Bombers unwilling to offer any more than a one-year contract, but no trade was forthcoming.

Zach MerrettIs being courted heavily by St Kilda, with reports of a ‘Godfather’ offer worth more than $1 million per season. However, is contracted until the end of 2027, with the Bombers maintaining they will not be trading their captain under any circumstances.

Dylan Shiel – GWS emerged as a surprise suitor to lure the midfielder back to his original club, while St Kilda also expressed interest. Has one year left to run on his Bombers contract, and no deal was struck.

Jake Stringer – Was eventually traded to GWS after a bizarre trade period. Essendon refused to offer a contract beyond a triggered one-year extension, while Collingwood and Sydney pulled out of the race after expressing interest. The Giants were keen, then seemed to pull out on the final day, before coming back to the table and securing a trade in exchange for pick 53.

Fremantle Dockers

Andrew Brayshaw – St Kilda are reportedly interested in the star midfielder, who is contracted to the Dockers until the end of 2025.

Tom Emmett – Delisted by the Dockers, the South Australian native is seen as a chance to move back home as a delisted free agent.

Geelong Cats

Patrick Dangerfield – Adelaide launched an audacious bit to lure the champion veteran back to his former club at the end of 2024. Will be out of contract but is expected to re-sign.

Sam De Koning – Rumoured as a player of interest for rivals after the Cats elected not to pick him for either of their finals, but is contracted and both club and player have denied any chance of a trade.

Brandan Parfitt – Was delisted and is expected to look elsewhere for more senior opportunities in 2025, having fallen out of favour since playing as sub in the 2022 premiership team.

Gold Coast Suns

Rory Atkins Was traded to Port Adelaide as part of a three-club mega trade involving the Suns, Power and Collingwood. Emerged as a shock piece in the trade in the second week after just 37 games in four years as a Sun, including only three in 2024.

Sam Day – Is expected to be signed by Brisbane as a delisted free agent.

Jack Lukosius Was traded to Port Adelaide as part of a three-club mega trade involving the Suns, Power and Collingwood.

Malcolm Rosas – Has a contract with the Suns for 2025, but was told he is free to explore a trade. Both Adelaide and Essendon were linked.

GWS Giants

Isaac CummingJoined Adelaide as an unrestricted free agent on a six-year deal. Attracted interest from, Port Adelaide, Fremantle and Melbourne as well.

Wade Derksen – Informed the Giants of his desire to be traded back home to a Victorian club for family reasons, and nominated Melbourne. Has a contract for 2025, but is yet to play a senior game after being taken in the 2022 mid-season rookie draft. No trade was struck.

Nick Haynes– Has joined Carlton as an unrestricted free agent. Was thrown into the trade mix at the end of 2023 despite having a year left to run on his deal, but the Giants couldn’t be persuaded to part ways.

Xavier O’Halloran – The Giants held him to his one-year contract despite interest from the Western Bulldogs when no trade could be struck.

James Peatling – Secured a trade to Adelaide after heavy interest from a number of clubs. Will sign a four-year contract.

Harry Perryman – Has joined Collingwood as an unrestricted free agent, on a reported six-year, $900,000 deal. The Giants have received a first-round draft pick currently valued at pick 16 as compensation. Port Adelaide were previously keen, while Hawthorn and Adelaide also had heavy interest. The Giants reportedly tabled a six-year contract offer to retain him.

Hawthorn Hawks

Sam Frost – Was approached by Sydney amid concerns the looming arrival of Josh Battle and Tom Barrass to the Hawks will push him out of the senior team. Triggered a contract extension for 2025 after an excellent season, but missed the Hawks’ semi-final loss with a foot injury. However, publicly expressed his commitment to the club.

Ethan Phillips – Played just one game in 2024 after being a pre-season supplementary selection, and has attracted interest from Carlton and St Kilda.

Ned Reeves – Usurped by Lloyd Meek as the Hawks’ premier ruckman, the father-son recruit is seen as a target by rival clubs, but is contracted until the end of 2026 and keen to stay.

Melbourne Demons

Alex Neal-Bullen Was traded to Adelaide in exchange for pick 28. Told the Demons he wished to return to South Australia for family reasons despite having two years to run on a three-year deal.

Clayton Oliver Was reportedly intent on joining Geelong after a frustrating season and more reports of the Dees being dissatisfied with their star premiership hero, but both parties quickly moved to shut down rumours. Is contracted until the end of 2030.

Christian Petracca – Reports emerged that the star midfielder is disgruntled with the club’s direction as he recovers from season-ending internal injuries, with claims his relationship with the club and his teammates deteriorated dramatically, and that he was desperate for a move to another big Victorian club. However, Petracca reaffirmed his commitment to the Demons in a public statement, though a trade was always unlikely given both his monster contract through to the end of 2029 and the lack of sufficient capital from the clubs he was reportedly keenest on – Carlton, Collingwood and Hawthorn – to appease the Dees.

Kysaiah Pickett Reportedly expressed interest in an interstate trade for family reasons, but despite links to Fremantle especially, is all but certain to remain at the Demons in 2025.

Adam Tomlinson – The fringe key defender and delisted free agent has attracted interest from St Kilda and Collingwood.

North Melbourne Kangaroos

Luke Davies-Uniacke – Has attracted interest from St Kilda and Essendon and reportedly put contract talks on hold with the Kangaroos. Will be a restricted free agent at the end of 2025.

Port Adelaide Power

Miles Bergman – Is reportedly keen on a return to Victoria despite being contracted to the Power for 2025 amid heavy Melbourne-based interest, but seems likely to stay given rumours have dwindled since mid-season.

Dan HoustonWas traded to Collingwood as part of a three-club mega trade involving the Magpies, Power and Gold Coast. Made a public declaration on radio he will stay at the Power, but proved one of the major moves of the trade period, with the Pies winning out for the dual All-Australian’s services ahead of Carlton and North Melbourne.

Ollie Lord – Has been sounded out by Victorian clubs, including Melbourne and Collingwood, with the Power’s pursuit of Jack Lukosius jeopardising his long-term future in the senior team at Alberton. Is tied to Port until the end of 2026, with the club reportedly telling him he is a big part of their future. Managed just six games in an injury-interrupted 2024.

Ivan Soldo – A requested trade back to Victoria after just one year at the Power fell through when St Kilda withdrew their reported interest in him due to his history of knee injuries.

Ollie Wines – Contracted until the end of 2026 but is reportedly a player of interest at North Melbourne.

Richmond Tigers

Liam Baker Was traded to West Coast as part of a three-club trade involving Carlton as well.

Shai Bolton – Was traded to Fremantle, with the Tigers receiving picks 10, 11 and 18 in return and giving back pick 14 and a future second-rounder. The Tigers and his management had previously denied reports he had officially sought a trade, but Bolton informed Richmond of his desire to return home to Western Australia for family reasons despite being contracted until the end of 2028.

Jack Graham – Is heading to West Coast as an unrestricted free agent, with Richmond receiving an end of second-round pick as compensation.

Tom Lynch – Has become a player of interest for Collingwood and Melbourne, according to reports, despite an injury-riddled last two seasons in which he has managed just eight games. Has one year remaining on a lucrative contract, but the 31-year-old could seek a new home as the Tigers continue with their long-term rebuild.

Dustin Martin – Announced his retirement late in 2023 and bade farewell to the Richmond faithful in an emotional goodbye, but rumours have reignited that he will backflip on that decision and reunite with Damien Hardwick at Gold Coast, having approached the Suns about potentially continuing his career. Depending on whether he has officially signed the league’s retirement paperwork, could head to the Suns as a free agent. Said at the Tigers’ best and fairest that he was happily retired.

Daniel Rioli – Was traded to Gold Coast as part of a deal that saw the Tigers receive picks 6 and 23, to complete a monstrous trade haul. Had been contracted until the end of 2027 and won the Jack Dyer Medal as the Tigers’ best and fairest in 2024.

St Kilda Saints

Josh Battle Officially joined Hawthorn as an unrestricted free agent on a six-year deal. The Saints have received a compensation pick that currently sits at pick 8.

Tom Campbell – The long-term backup ruckman has joined Melbourne as a delisted free agent, having been cut by the Saints.

Jack Hayes – Has conducted a medical at Collingwood after an injury-riddled run at the Saints.

Tim Membrey – Joined Collingwood as a delisted free agent.

Sydney Swans

Peter Ladhams – The dual-club ruckman has one year remaining on his contract, but sits behind Brodie Grundy in the pecking order at the Swans and is assessing his options.

Jakob Konstanty – Became the ‘steak knives’ in a trade with North Melbourne for Luke Parker, with both becoming Kangaroos.

Luke Parker – Was traded along with Konstanty to North Melbourne. Was contracted for 2025, but fell out of favour after a pre-season injury before re-establishing himself in the best team, though he still requested a trade at season’s end.

Chad Warner – In career-best form, the star midfielder reportedly rejected a contract extension from the Swans. Remains contracted until the end of 2025, but Fremantle are planning a monster rival offer that could reach $1.6 million per year.

West Coast Eagles

Tom Barrass – Was traded to Hawthorn in exchange for future first, second and third-round picks, and will sign a four-year contract.

Jack DarlingJoined North Melbourne in exchange for pick 67.

Western Bulldogs

Caleb Daniel – Was traded to North Melbourne in exchange for pick 25, despite having two years to run on his contract. Fell out of favour in 2024.

Rory Lobb – Has two years to run on a four-year deal, but reportedly told the Bulldogs he will be seeking a trade at season’s end, with Collingwood among a number of clubs linked to the key forward. However, revitalised his career at the Dogs as a key defender in the second half of the season.

Jack Macrae – Was traded to St Kilda after requesting a trade following a frustrating season in which he was shifted out of the Bulldogs’ main midfield and spent time in the VFL and as the sub.

Bailey Smith – Was eventually traded to Geelong after a prolonged negotiation period.
